A bit of history… The Italian luxury brand has been ruling the market since it was founded in 1975 by Giorgio Armani. Armani, following a period of military service, left his job as a window dresser and began his own menswear label, followed swiftly by a womenswear collection a year later. Famous for his ‘power-woman’ look (we remind you of Grace Jones’ unforgettable black blazer), taking women away out of floral dresses and introducing them to chic and sharp blazers and suits, Armani led multiple fashion take-overs. By the 1990s, the brand had multiple lines under the Armani-umbrella, such as Emporio Armani and Armani Jeans, still taking a proud place in today’s fashion.
One of the most highly rated and admired brands, it is unsurprising that Armani has been worn by celebrities from all industries for years. Dressing Dicaprio in the epic The Wolf of Wall Street, designing the wedding dress of the Princess of Monaco and being responsible for Lady Gaga’s 2010 shimmering Grammy outfit, Armani has rightly become a red carpet go-to, a business-chic must-have and a leading name in the vintage markets, dominating the fashion industry for decades.
